Built on Family, Trust, and Care for the Home
At Big Family, we know how unsettling it feels when something in your home’s electrical system is not working properly. Even more concerning is when an issue puts your family’s safety at risk. As homeowners ourselves, we understand that stress. Your home is where daily life happens, and when something feels off, it deserves immediate care and clear answers.
That understanding is what shaped Big Family. From the beginning, our goal has been simple. Bring dependable, high quality electrical service to Baton Rouge homes as quickly and thoughtfully as possible. We do our best to get to your home the same day you call. If that is not possible, we work diligently to get a trained technician to you as soon as we can. Every technician who enters your home is background checked, drug tested, and prepared to restore your electrical system so you can feel confident that your home and family are safe.
For us, electrical service is not just about fixing a problem. It is about restoring peace of mind.
A Story That Started Early
Big Family’s roots trace back decades, beginning with hands-on experience and a deep respect for the electrical trade. Growing up as the son of an electrician, Seth began his apprenticeship at the young age of eight, helping his dad on job sites and learning the fundamentals firsthand. Over the years, he developed both practical and technical expertise in wiring, electronics, power systems, computing, and logistics.
That early exposure shaped his work ethic and curiosity. Seth worked his way through high school and college, continuously building on his technical skills while gaining a broader understanding of how systems work together. This combination of field experience and academic knowledge became the foundation for the way Big Family approaches every home today.
Deb’s Journey and a Shared Purpose
While Seth was building his path in the electrical trade, Deborah’s journey took her across the world. Alongside her mother, she spent seven years living and working in Russia as a missionary. Much of that time was spent traveling by train between cities throughout the Moscow region, serving communities and learning the value of patience, humility, and connection.
Seth and Deb met after high school through an unexpected and memorable set of circumstances in late 2002. Though their paths were very different, they shared a desire to serve others in meaningful ways. That shared purpose would later shape both their family and the company they would build together.
A Baton Rouge Legacy
Big Family was officially founded in 2019, but its foundation goes much deeper. Practically, the work began in 2006 with the formation of Chandler Services LLC. The family has been serving the Baton Rouge area since 1976, when Seth’s father, Bud Chandler, began working as a tradesman in the electrical industry. By the mid 1980s, Bud was diligently serving the capital area as an electrical business owner, building a reputation for reliable and honest work.
Chandler Services LLC was formed in 2006 and marked with a simple celebration, a family trip to the beach. At that time, Seth and Deb were raising two young boys and working toward a future that allowed Seth’s engineering and design expertise to shine. Over the next several years, Seth gained experience in design build projects while continuing to serve both commercial and custom residential construction clients throughout the Baton Rouge area.
In 2012, Seth obtained his engineering license, allowing him to officially work in the design areas of electrical and mechanical systems. By then, the family had grown significantly, welcoming three girls and three more boys. Family life and professional growth continued side by side.
Service Beyond the Job
Throughout their years together, Seth and Deb maintained a strong desire to help others near and far. Their service extended beyond Baton Rouge through direct and indirect mission support in Mexico, Honduras, Australia, Asia Minor, India, Nepal, and Russia. These experiences reinforced the belief that real service begins with listening and care.
After fourteen years serving the Baton Rouge area through commercial and custom residential construction, Seth recognized a growing need for specialized residential service technicians. He expanded his expertise by earning a Master Plumbing license and began focusing on preparing technicians who approached their work with an engineer’s level of care and attention. This blend of technical knowledge and hands-on skill became a defining part of Big Family’s approach.
We Like to Have Fun, Lots of It
At Big Family, we believe work can be meaningful and enjoyable at the same time. If it cannot be fun, then why do it. Our days are filled with adventure, hustle, and flow. Adventure is not always about knowing exactly where you are. It is about knowing where you are headed. When challenges arise, we help point you in the right direction and explore every option to get you where you want to be.
Anything worth doing takes hard work. We hustle so your life can be easier, more comfortable, and less stressful. Our goal is to handle the hard parts so you can relax and enjoy your home.
Why Big Family Exists
