A good audio and video setup should disappear into your home. No tangle of remotes on the coffee table, no wires running down the wall, no guessing which input does what. At BIG Family Electrical Services & Home Automation, we design and install audio and video systems for homes across Baton Rouge, and we handle the electrical work behind them ourselves.
That matters more than folks realize. Clean power, properly grounded circuits, and surge protection are what keep expensive equipment alive through the Louisiana storm season. We built the whole system with that in mind from the first day.

WHAT YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE SAYING ABOUT US
Home Theater Installation
We build home theaters that fit the room you have, whether that is a dedicated media room, a bonus room over the garage, or the family living room where everybody already gathers on Sunday afternoon.
The work starts with the room itself. We look at seating distance, ceiling height, window placement, and where light enters, then size the display and speaker layout around them. A screen that looks huge in the showroom may be the wrong fit for your space, and we would rather tell you that up front than sell you something you end up squinting at.
From there, we handle mounting, in-wall and in-ceiling speaker placement, projector and screen installation, receiver setup, and full wire concealment. Everything gets run inside the walls, so you are not looking at cable management strips. We program the system so one remote or one app runs the whole thing, and we sit down with your family until everybody knows how to use it.
We also plan for our climate. Attic-mounted and closet-mounted equipment needs ventilation in Baton Rouge heat, and we make sure gear has room to breathe instead of cooking itself over a long summer.
Seamless Sound with Multi-Room Speakers
Multi-room audio lets you play music anywhere in the house without hauling a speaker around. Kitchen, patio, primary bedroom, garage, all on one system, all controlled from your phone or a wall keypad.
You can run the same thing everywhere for a party, or give each zone its own source so the kids have their music in the back of the house while you have yours out on the patio. Volume is set per room, so nobody is stuck at somebody else’s listening level.
Outdoor zones get special attention here. Humidity, pollen, and afternoon thunderstorms are hard on speakers that were not built for them, so we spec weather-rated outdoor equipment and mount it where it stays protected. Done right, a patio system holds up through Louisiana summers for years.
We install in-wall and ceiling speakers during the build so the hardware stays out of sight. In finished homes, we can usually fish wire through existing walls with minimal patching.
Our Audio & Visual Brands
We install and support the audio and video platforms we stand behind.
- Control4 whole home control
- Certified dealer status
- Professional-grade AV equipment
- Factory-trained technicians
Control4 is the backbone of most of the systems we build. It ties your audio, video, lighting, and shades into a single interface, so a single button dims the lights, lowers the screen, and starts the movie. Being an authorized dealer means we get direct manufacturer training and real technical support if anything ever needs attention.
Designing a Custom Audio & Video Setup for Your Home
Every project starts with a walkthrough and a conversation. We want to know how your family actually uses the house, which rooms need sound, whether you want a true theater or just better TV audio, and what you are comfortable spending. No pressure, no upselling.
Then we build the design. We map speaker and display placement, wiring routes, equipment locations, and control points, then walk you through it in plain language before anything is ordered. You will know the full scope and the full cost before we pick up a tool.
Our own licensed team handles installation. We run wiring, mount equipment, install and program the system, and verify that every zone works as it should. We clean up behind ourselves and treat your home like our own.
The last step is teaching you the system. We walk you and your family through the app and the keypads, adjust settings until they feel right, and stay available if you want changes later.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a home theater installation cost?
It depends on the room size, equipment, and the amount of wiring involved. We give you an upfront quote after the walkthrough with no surprises later.
Can you add audio and video to an existing home?
Yes. We regularly retrofit finished homes and can usually run wire through existing walls with minimal patching.
Do I need a dedicated room for a home theater?
No. Many of our best builds are in living rooms and bonus rooms. We design around the space you already have.
Will outdoor speakers survive Louisiana weather?
Yes, when the right equipment is used. We install weather-rated outdoor speakers and mount them in protected locations.
How long does installation take?
Most residential audio and video projects take one to four days, depending on system size and the amount of wiring required.
