Arrived to inspect sewer station pump. Power to the circuit was off upon arrival. Circuit was powered on and a non-GFCI outlet near the panel was tested; power reached the sump pump, which was filled with sewer water due to pump inactivity. Pump status inspection revealed a tripped GFCI. Pump was unplugged and GFCI tested, operating properly with a trip time of 0.07 seconds. Motor tested on the GFCI circuit ran approximately two minutes before tripping the outlet. Discussed testing options for the sewer pump and motor system, including pumping out the system to ensure proper operation.
Inspected setup for connecting power from mobile home pole to interior subpanel. Pole equipped with ground rod and grounding conductor. Subpanel contains conductors extending into a trough with Polaris connectors. Installation requires approximately 150 feet of 2/0 conductor and 50 feet of grounding wire.
Provided generator quote following site evaluation. Recommended 26kW air-cooled unit based on load requirements. Service rebuild and installation of combination panel required to accommodate ATS. Gas service to be extended to property prior to installation.
Service call performed for loss of power in bedroom and to provide quotation for panel upgrade. Insurance company identified existing panel as hazardous; inspection confirmed Zinsco panel. Breaker labeled for bedroom determined to be faulty, causing reported outage. Quotation prepared for panel replacement with explanation of hazards associated with Zinsco panels.
Inspected disconnect for replacement. AC company reported disconnect was defective and temporarily tapped together. Initial assumption was 30A, confirmed to be 50A. Contacted supplier for pricing and ordered required materials. Provided replacement estimate.
Inspected non-functional outdoor outlet located under the carport. Breaker controlling the outlet and laundry room accessory receptacles was found tripped, with no indicator light present. Breaker was reset, restoring power to the affected outlets. No further issues observed.
Responded to a report of a water heater not receiving power. Upon inspection, the breaker was found to be tripping immediately. Opened the water heater disconnect and the junction box at the unit. Activating the disconnect resulted in visible sparking. Inspected all electrical connections; most were secure except for loose wires at the water heater wire nuts. Re-terminated the connections, but sparking persisted. Isolated the load from the circuit, and the breaker held. Verified proper voltage at the breaker, disconnect (both line and load sides), and at the water heater line input. Determined the issue to be internal to the water heater and notified the landlord by phone. Returned later for further evaluation. Found that the wires at the top of the water heater had not been properly connected and the breaker was in a tripped state, not fully reset. Reset the breaker correctly and verified voltage throughout the system. Observed the water heater successfully power on and begin
Performed diagnostics following power restoration. Identified four tripping breakers: circuits 16, 12, 9, and 11, which supplied power to the kitchen area. Discovered multiple shared neutrals between circuits 9, 11, and 12 within a single box. After separation, breakers continued to trip. Located a ground wire being used as a neutral in the island light switch box. Junction box responsible for this issue could not be located, but the problem was near another switch on the same circuit. Re-fed the affected circuit and capped off unused wiring. After corrections, all circuits held on dual-function breakers except the refrigerator, which was relocated to an AFCI-only breaker. Additional inspection in the attic revealed that the condenser and heat strip were connected to the same circuit via an outlet. Issue was identified and presented to the property representative, with a strong recommendation for corrective action. Completed circuit labeling, with all circuits identified excep
