Arrived on site to evaluate electrical issues involving garage refrigerators and a patio circuit. Conducted inspection and safety check of the property, identifying items of concern related to the noted circuits and additional safety deficiencies throughout the home. Documented findings and provided recommendations for corrective action.
Performed Level 1 diagnostic on bathroom heater vent light. Found improperly made wiring joints within the fixture, incorrect vent stack installation, and improper electrical bushing entry into the appliance. Removed and inspected the switch, verifying wiring and contact integrity. Repaired defective wiring joints within the fixture. System tested and verified to operate normally without use of new parts supplied by the owner.
Arrived at the residence to address electrical concerns, including garage refrigerators and a patio circuit. Conducted a safety inspection of the home and reviewed findings. Discussed approaches and scenarios for resolving the identified electrical issues. Provided an estimate for diagnostics of the items of concern.
Missing locknut found on load side of AC condenser. Load side removed, locknut installed, and reassembled. System operating properly.
Completed annual inspection. Observed absence of AFCI breakers in panel, missing GFCI protection in hall bathroom and kitchen, and one outlet with hot/neutral reversed. Repair options were provided. Additional request received for service at a rental property in South Baton Rouge where several outlets are reported as non-functional following recent electrical work.
Service call for oven reported as inoperable following audible popping noise. Breaker for oven was found tripped on arrival. Visual inspection performed on cord, plug, and oven. Breaker reset; voltage readings confirmed at 120V, 120V, and 240V to ground and neutral. Oven powered on and operated normally during visit. Recommended Level 2 diagnostic to inspect all accessible connections and rule out electrical issues such as loose or burning connections in plug, cord, breaker, or oven. Diagnostic declined. Advised of potential risks if underlying electrical issue is present and not addressed.
Reviewed request to add recessed cans to soffit. Fixtures to be controlled by photocell for automatic operation. Layout of cans determined and marked for placement. Photocell to be installed on northwest corner of home. New circuit to be added from AC panel in attic, which is in close proximity to planned photocell location. Six-inch cans selected after comparison with four-inch option, based on soffit size of approximately 36–38 inches wide in various areas. Existing rear exterior lights to remain controlled by wall switch with no changes.
Evaluation performed for installation of a 50A generator inlet to accommodate a 10–12kW portable generator. Existing combo panel outside has no main breaker; replacement required to support installation. Subpanel also lacks a main breaker. Quoted replacement of combo panel, installation of generator inlet, and addition of surge protection.
Inspected non-functional light fixture. Bulbs had been replaced with no resolution. Tested the ballast and confirmed failure. Replaced ballast and restored proper operation of the fixture.
Installed CS generator inlet. Inlet and properly installed interlock were provided and already in place. Verified correct operation of the interlock—functionality was confirmed. A 50A QO breaker was also pre-installed in the correct panel position. Drilled through brick and fished wiring to complete the connection. Inlet was mounted and terminated. Final inspection indicated all components were properly installed and functioning as expected.
Arrived following a report from an HVAC company regarding incorrect wiring for the AC system. Review of photos provided by the HVAC technician revealed that a 60A circuit had been improperly tapped to supply both the air handler and the condenser, which is not code-compliant. A new 30A circuit was installed from the main panel. Installation was challenging due to the low-pitch roof. Drilled through the top plate above the panel and used a glow rod to pull the wire through the attic space. The new circuit was then routed to the AC unit. The existing disconnect had been mounted directly to the supply plenum, which can cause vibration-related issues and loose connections over time. A 2x6 support was installed between ceiling rafters to properly mount both the existing disconnect and the new one. All electrical connections were completed, with the exception of the load wire to the air handler, which required replacement due to insufficient length. A new whip was installed to complete
Inspected and replaced damaged floor outlets using appropriate materials. Outlets were securely installed with adhesive, ensuring a clean and stable fit. AFCI protection was also added to the associated circuits. During the safety inspection, several code and safety concerns were identified, including lack of AFCI protection, deteriorated main panel, questionable lugs in the subpanel, missing GFCI protection, absence of in-use covers, and limited smoke detector coverage. Customer elected to proceed with installation of additional smoke detectors in hallways on each floor, with no installations requested in individual bedrooms at this time. All completed work meets current electrical standards.
Replaced bulbs at Mr. Cecil’s office. Discovered significantly more failed or failing bulbs than initially expected. A total of over 34 bulbs were replaced. While accessing fixtures with one burnt-out bulb and others showing signs of wear, all bulbs in those fixtures were replaced to ensure consistency. Approval on pricing was confirmed prior to full replacement. All bulbs were successfully changed and lighting appearance was improved.
